Every time I’m in Tuscany, I wish myself back.
November 2000 was my first trip to Europe and I remember staring from the train window as we sped through Tuscany from Florence to Trento thinking that I will be back to this place. It took longer than I would have liked, but in November 2009 I was in Florence again. This time, I wished myself the opportunity to live abroad, a dream that seemed unrealistic until perhaps retirement. Yet,thirteen months later, we learned we would have the opportunity to live and work overseas.
It’s only fitting that one of our first trips since moving to the UK was to Tuscany. The chance to see some friends was all the excuse we needed take a weekend trip to Pisa and Florence. We ate, we drank and of course, I wished myself back.
The Tuscan wishes have worked so far, so I felt emboldened. I wished for a longer stay in Tuscany. One that would require hiring an apartment , or perhaps a villa in the countryside for several weeks.
What’s your Tuscan wish? (Don’t be afraid to go bold. And don’t be surprised if your wish comes true.)
